Before the Golden Pony ever existed, the space used to be a restaurant named The Blue Nile. As a venue, The Blue Nile did exceedingly well, but as a restaurant it did not. In the end The Blue Nile was forced to shut down abruptly and permanently in October. This spiritual successor to The Blue Nile came in and salvaged the location by raising funds for the downstairs venue section and bringing life back into the well-established venue. With it’s extremely long hours it’s no surprise that their webpage proclaims “COME ON DOWN! WE'RE OPEN!” because chances are that they are open.

The menu is delightfully creative, giving fun descriptions of their food. They offer the kind of meals you would expect to find at an American bar/restaurant (burgers, sandwiches, and pizza) but with unique twists. For example they have a sandwich named “The Jerk”. It is named rightfully so because it is a jerk in more ways than one: a jerk seasoned roast chicken that is quite literally insulting the vegan bun it is being served on. Along with their lunch and dinner menus, they also have a late night breakfast running from midnight to five in the morning on Fridays and Saturdays. Then, four hours later, they serve brunch.

Since it is also a bar, this is a great place to grab a drink (if you’re over 21) and enjoy a show. With a variety of different types of entertainment ranging from local bands to DJs to comedy routines, everyone is sure to find something they like downstairs at The Golden Pony. And since all the proceeds go straight to the band this is one of the best places to go to support local music. More information and their full menu is located on their website and remember: stay gold!
